Floyd Co. man pleads not guilty, judge denies bond
A man arrested Thursday in connection with a 20 year old cold case was in a FloydCounty courtroom this afternoon to answer to charges of murder.
54-year-old Christopher Baxter pleaded not guilty and the judge denied bond. Baxter is accused of killing his wife, Robin, two decades ago.
During the original investigation in 1990, police said Baxter claimed the last time he saw his wife was after a fight on June 19, 1990 in their home at 1802 Troy Street in New Albany. Robin's body was found three days later in the Ohio River with multiple blunt injuries to her head.
Over the course of the investigation, Police also found what Baxter allegedly called his "lead pipe" in his home. Now, police believe they have enough evidence to close this case.
According to court documents, Chris Baxter had a habit of getting drunk and telling people he killed his wife. Eventually, an informant went to investigators with the information.
